Just got engaged and unsure of what to do next?,
fear not Wedding Spectacular is here!.
First of all Congratulations!
Planning your special day can be one of the most stressful yet most fun and memorable times of your life and we are here to help you every step of the way. Our short guide has been written to help you to plan your wedding day20 Steps to the Big Day!
Step 1: Tell those most important to you (you never know they might even offer to help you pay!)If you have to pay yourself, it might be a good idea if you have not already done so to start to save for your Special Day.
Step 2: Set your date, remember that some venues and wedding suppliers offer discount for weekday weddings and please also bear in mind that if your wedding is on a Sunday it may be cut short as people leave early as they have work in the morning when your still up and wanting to enjoy every second of your day!.
Step 3: Set and agree your Budget. Decide on the Sytle of wedding you want, Colours, Civil or Church. Do you know the average wedding in the UK costs around £17,000. Taking into account, The Dress, Wedding Rings, Honeymoon, Church, Transport, Flowers, Venue, Entertainment, Chocolate Fountains, Casino Tables, Toastmaster, etc.
Step 4: Take out Wedding Insurance, before you hand over any deposits!.Wedding Insurance from Ecclesiastical from as little as £30 could be a good investment, if something should happen to go wrong on your Special Day, it gives you that peace of mind. Now you have set a date and purchased insurance you can start to spend.
Step 5: Go to talk to the Vicar and book the church / or Registar if a Civil ceremony to secure the date.
Step 6: Find Your Venue, this make take some time so be prepared!. Visiting Wedding Fayre is usually a good time, because most venues will have at least a table set up to showcase their venue.
Step 7: Order The Stationery - Whilst you have probably already told everyone you know about your up and coming big day, now is the time to make it official, send out your "Save the Day, and your invitations need to be sent out well in advance so whilst this may be a little early to send them, you should at least begin looking at colours and designs.
Step 8: Select Your Ring, Simple or Bling the choice is yours.
Step 9: Your Guest List, Now the fun begins! Who should come, where do you start with your guest list? Start with family members, best man or men, bridesmaids, etc and then work outwards. Think of it as a "Wedding" tree. It might be an idea to run past mums and dads, etc, be prepared to give and take a little, but remember it is your day so you do have the final say!.
Step 10: Choosing The Dress; This is one of the most important, fun and exciting parts of the whole wedding preparation process. A multitude of dresses can be found on the internet or in Bridal Shops, or at Wedding Fayres. Whether it is something simple or something grand that takes your eye there is a dress to suit all, no matter what shape or size,!.
Step 11: The Honeymoon, Once your big day is over, your honeymoon is normally your first chance to be alone as husband and wife, so it will be very exciting. Select your destination. Make sure your passport is valid (with at least 7 months validity left on it after your planned Wedding Date). Also, make sure that you know if you need any jab requirements from the Drs. Doing your homework will most certainly pay off in the future.
Step 12: Book The Photographer. Capture a 1000 words in 1 picture, that is what most good photographers can do. You will want to cherish the memories of your special day, so do your homework. Are they insured ? Ensure you know what is covered in the package, how many photographs, is their a time limit that they stay till, do you have copyright so you can reproduce the images yourself?. By booking a good photographer/videographer you will be able to look over your favourite moments time and time again and they will be a treasure to keep forever.
Step 13; Book your Transport, whether it's a Vintage Rolls Royce or Big Red Bus, choosing the right style of transport for your wedding is both fun and important.
Step 14: Sort the Cake! Definately have a taste test!. Handy Hint, why not use your the Wedding Cake as your desert at the Wedding Breakfast, could save you a few hundred pounds!.
Step 15: Book and Order Flowers for Church? / Bridesmaids, button holes, on top of cake ? / reception ? etc.
Step 16: Entertainment, does the venue have it's own DJ or Entertainment, do you want a Band or Wedding Singer? Childrens Entertainer during the Speeches ?
Step 17: Prepare your Wedding Gift List; no doubt people whom you invite to the wedding will want to buy you a present, so what better way to ensure that you don't end up with 12 toasters or 7 Diner Services is to make a Wedding Gift List
Step 18: Send Out Your Invitiations if you've made use of the 'save the date' cards, most of your guests should be well aware when your wedding is and will be eagerly awaiting the invitation. You should send out your invites a minimum of 10 to 8 weeks before your wedding however sooner is often better. That way people have chance to book hotel rooms to stay over etc if they are travelling any distance and send replies early enough for you to finialise the numbers with the venue etc.
Handy Tip have a 'reserve list' of people that you would like to invite if numbers permit or should someone let you done at last minute.
Step 19: The Stag and Hen Nights, Time to let your hair down. It is usually the duty of the best man or chief bridesmaid to organize this event. This should be a memorable night as you will be amongst your closest friends, and the people who know and love you best.
Step 20: The Finishing Touches, Everyone's wedding is unique to them so it is difficult to put into words exactly what final touches you will need to take care of. Things to think about are seating plans, order of service, rehearsals, speeches, readings, poems, thank you gifts, first dances, music, timings, transport, children, favours, first night accommodation, return of hired outfits, thank you cards, etc. OurWedding Spectacular 2010 guide cannot possibly cover everything for everyone but we do hope to offer most people a good idea of what may be involved in their Special day
Good Luck Planning Yours!.
